Emerging contaminants (ECs) usually refer to pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), dioxins, personal care products, cosmetics, and medications. Due the strong demand quick growth of these businesses, ECs have continuously been found in alarming amounts groundwater, surface water, wastewater. These provide a significant non-esthetic threat ecosystem as whole can cause contamination when released into aquatic environment. The conventional wastewater treatment techniques such activated sludge, membrane filtration, coagulation, adsorption, ozonation showed removal performance certain extent. In turn, numerous emerging advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), especially persulfate oxidation, garnered huge amount attention due their outstanding remediation ECs.
